While I usually start these newsletters by whining about how fast another month has flown by, today's not the day! Why, you ask? Because September is my birthday month! And according to my very real, very official internal calendar, it’s also the start of the holiday season. (T-how many days until Christmas?!)
This newsletter is also a little different because it’s somewhat of a collaboration. I guest wrote a post for Anshika Arora at Daily Aisle Guide (thank you, Anshika!), and I’m shamelessly encouraging you to read it via the link below.
But before you click away, here are a few wedding-fashion moments from August that actually caught my attention:
DeVon Franklin and Maria Castillo. Maria wore a custom Galia Lahav lace gown, and I thought she looked beautiful. Personally, I’m not into detachable sleeves (my opinion: either go with gloves or proper sleeves; what’s the point of something half-committed?), but she carried them well.
Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz. The couple renewed their vows, and Nicola surprised me (in a good way!) by repurposing her mom's 1980s wedding dress. I’m actually shocked by how much I liked her look.
Davido and Chioma Rowland Adeleke. I mean, this wedding was quite the production, and Chioma's Alonuko gown was the star of the show. She looked incredible, full stop.
Sheryl Lee Ralph’s vow renewal. I think Sheryl Lee Ralph gave everyone a masterclass on how to use accessories to really dress up a look. For those who haven't seen the photos, she wore a custom Monsoori Haute Couture gown paired with an 80-foot sheer shawl (yes, 80!), Dior pumps, a diamond Cartier watch, and a pearl-draped "bouquet." The gown was pretty, but the styling was better.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. When I first drafted this newsletter, they weren’t engaged. Now they are. And while I don't care to comment much on their engagement (because it's already been reported to death, and because I've never actually listened to a Taylor Swift song in full), I'll share this: I like that she went simple with her fashion, and I appreciate the normalness of her look. The Ralph Lauren dress she wore apparently crashed the brand’s website and sold out instantly.
Okay, that’s it for my mini news roundup.
Again, don’t forget to check out my guest post over at Daily Aisle Guide. I pulled a few shopping highlights for you here, but the full edit lives in that post.
Until September! x
